The Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of Language Evolution (University of Zurich) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Linguistic Geography, to join a project investigating phylogenetic inheritance and areal spread of linguistic patterns.
Employment is at 80% FTE and includes within this about 20% teaching. The successful candidates may use the remaining unpaid 20% for their own further training and skill development.
You have strong data science skills, including Bayesian statistical modelling. Also desirable would be familiarity with spatial or geographic modelling, phylogenetic methods, and linguistic typology.
You will be joining a team of outstanding language researchers, emphasising teamwork and multidisciplinarity. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential. Good oral and written communication in English is required.
The position is part of the Anthropological Linguistics Group headed by Prof. John Mansfield. UZH offers excellent opportunities and strong support for career development.
