Together with Fernando Zúñiga, Rik van Gijn edited a special issue of the online journal Linguistic Discovery on the evolution of morphological complexity. Rik van Gijn contributed two papers: "Aspects of the diachronic (in)stability of complex morphology" and "Verbal synthesis in the Guaporé-Mamoré linguistic area: a contact feature?".
