Silvan Spiess received the CanDoc grant which will fund the first half of his PhD Project with the title  "Linguistic precursors in a social bird".

The aim of this project is to better understand structural organisation, variation and function of a particular diverse vocalisation of the chestnut crowned babbler (Pomatostomus ruficeps) and compare these mechanisms with syntactic structuring in language.
